High pressure will once again take over Montana allowing for above average temperatures and more wind.
Wind gusts around 30 to 40 mph are likely throughout Central Montana this afternoon.
Blowing and drifting snow has warranted a Winter Weather Advisory for the immediate vicinity of the Rocky Mountain Front in North Central Montana.
The wind will drive daytime high temperatures well into the 40s this afternoon.
A little less wind is expected for Christmas in turn leading to slightly cooler temperatures.
Unfortunately no snow is expected on Christmas Day.
An incoming low pressure system is on track to break down the high pressure ridge as we enter the weekend.
Forecast models are suggesting that a few flurries are possible as this system tracks through the state on Saturday.
A few lingering flurries are possible on Sunday; however, the overall snow accumulation is expected to be minimal.
This passing system will allow for colder air to filter in from Canada, dropping temperatures closer to average.
Highs in the low 30s are anticipated as we kick off a new work week.
