Winter storm is here through the weekend

Snow will continue and temperatures will fall

Snow has started to fall in parts of North Central Montana - and it's going to continue for quite some time.

Snow will expand eastward through Friday night, with most of the area in line for snow through the day Saturday, before a break Saturday night. An additional wave of snow is expected Sunday. As of now, the heaviest snow looks to fall Friday night into early Saturday.

The snow forecast has changed little since Thursday, with most places in North Central Montana still in line for heavy snow, including over a foot of snow north of Great Falls.

Winds will pick up Friday night as well, and blowing snow will create very poor visibility. Travel will be difficult Friday night and through the day on Saturday, with some minor improvements Sunday.

In addition to travel hazards, our temperatures will be dropping rapidly. Temperatures will fall from Friday night into Saturday, with daytime temperatures on Saturday in the teens and single digits, with some spots even below zero.

Below zero temperatures will be common by Saturday night, with winds chills as cold as -30.
