GREAT FALLS — Our weekend winter storm looks to be very, very impactful. Winter Storm Watches and Warnings are set to go into effect Friday night through Sunday.
Heavy snow along with strong winds will make travel extremely difficult. Wet snow may accumulate on trees and power lines, causing damage and potential power outages.
Snow starts along the Divide on Friday. Snow levels lower to include the Rocky Mountain Front by Friday night.
Lower elevations further to the east see rain turn to snow by Saturday.
Saturday through Sunday brings heavy snow to much of the area, but the eastern half of the state looks to see mostly rain.
The storm will wrap up Monday, but not before dropping some very impressive snow totals.
Much of north-central Montana will pick up up to a foot of snow, with places closer to the Divide seeing as much two to three feet.
Stay tuned for the latest forecast as we head into the weekend.
Monitor weather and road conditions before heading out this weekend, especially on Sunday.
