Snow continues to fall across portions of Central and North-Central Montana today. Visibility has been reduced in many locations due to falling and blowing snow making travel hazardous across the area.
Winter Storm Warnings remain in place for areas in pink on the map below through 5:00 PM Sunday. These areas could see an additional 2"-5" as we head through the night and into tomorrow. Gusty winds will not only be a blowing snow issue, but wind chills have the potential to drop to near -30.
Along the Hi-Line a Winter Weather Advisory is also still in effect until 5:00 PM Sunday with the potential for an additional 1"-3". Wind Chills have the potential to reach -40 in these areas as well. Frostbite can occur in only 10 minutes so bundle up if you must go outdoors.
North-East and East Montana are under a Wind Chill advisory through 11:00 AM on Sunday. Snow will be scarce in these areas, but arctic air will settle in creating dangerous wind chill values to -40. It's likely that these Wind Chill Advisories will expand in coverage and duration as we head into next week.
Snow should begin to taper off as we head into Sunday and Sunday night. Temperatures and wind chills will still be very dangerous as we head into next week.
