Our mild weather is going to be leaving us soon.
A storm system moving in from the Pacific Ocean will bring winter weather back to the forecast.
The storm system will approach the state Monday night, and bring widespread rain Tuesday.
The rain will transition to snow through the day from north to south, with mostly snow falling after sunset.
Snow will then continue into early Wednesday as the system shifts south.
As temperatures drop below freezing any water on roadways from rain or snow may turn to ice, meaning potentially slippery roads Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Snow accumulations look generally light, but a band of heavier snow will set up along or just north of the Canadian border.
Heavier snow is expected in the mountains as well, especially along the Northern Divide, where a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect Tuesday.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect Tuesday as well, for areas along the border, as well as areas along the divide in Lewis and Clark and Teton Counties.
