Winter weather is definitely on the way, but we've got another hazard to deal with before it arrives.

Winds will be very strong on Thursday, and a High Wind Warning is in effect for much of the area.

Peak gusts of 80 miles per hour will be possible along the Rocky Mountain Front, with 60 mile per hour gusts will be possible for the remaining areas under the warning.

We'll also the chance for showers Thursday, with additional chances for rain Friday.

Mountain snow will also fall by Friday, and rain turns to snow in the lower elevations by Saturday.

Heavy snow remains very likely along the Rocky Mountain Front, with totals as high as three feet possible.

Places like Great Falls and Helena, which have just been placed under a Winter Storm Watch, may see as much as a foot (click here for details).

This weekend storm will bring travel and agricultural impacts, as well the potential for power outages.

Stay tuned for more updates.
