Our next snowstorm arrives Friday

We're tracking some snow Wednesday afternoon, and much more on the way.

In the short term, we've got a cold front moving through the state, that's bringing with it some rain showers, a few rumbles of thunder, and some snow.

The front will continue to move south through the afternoon and evening, dropping temperatures, and bringing around an inch of snow to places like Great Falls.

Additional snow showers will be possible Thursday, but with little to no accumulation expected.

The heavier snow is set to arrive Friday, and last into Saturday, and even Sunday for parts of Eastern Montana.

There's still some uncertainty regarding snowfall amounts, but widespread snow totals between 5 to 12 inches are likely, with locally higher and lower amounts.

The snow will cause major travel impacts as it accumulates.

In addition to the snow, very cold temperatures will be arriving by Friday night, with many spots falling below zero.
