Friday has brought some slightly warmer temperatures to most of North Central Montana - but that's not a trend we expect to last long.
Saturday will be fairly normal, with highs in the 20s and 30s, but by Saturday night much colder air will begin to filter into the state, from north to south.
Most spots will see their high temperature on Sunday occur at midnight, with highs ranging from single digits and teens on the Hi-Line, to 20s farther south.
By Sunday afternoon nearly all of North Central Montana will be behind an arctic cold front, with temperatures ranging from the lower teens to single digits below zero.
Temperatures will continue to fall all the way through Sunday night, and likely through Monday as well. By Monday night temperatures in the double-digits below zero are expected, with sub-zero temperatures expected to hang on for most, if not all, of the work week.
The cold air will have a harder time filtering into the Helena area, however.
Helena will see a high temperature near 30 Sunday afternoon, and will manage to climb into the teens by Monday afternoon.
The cold air will make it into the capital city eventually, and even Helena will fall below zero by Monday night.
