Expect times of blowing and drifting snow

We're tracking a few light flurries Friday afternoon, and heavier snow is coming Friday night into Saturday.

By Saturday morning a heavy band of snow will be setting up along the Hi-Line, behind a cold front.

Another shot of snow Saturday

That band of snow will begin to push south through Central Montana through the afternoon hours, and into southern Montana by Saturday evening.

Snow will linger longest along the Hi-Line and Northeast Montana, so heavier snow up to 6 inches are possible there.

Around 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in Great Falls and Helena.

Heavier snow is, as usual, expected in the mountains, and areas adjacent to high terrain.

In addition to accumulating snow, gusty winds are possible as the cold front moves through the state.

That means in addition to slippery roads, reduced visibility from blowing and drifting snow is possible.

Expect travel impacts, especially by Saturday afternoon.

Fortunately, Sunday looks much nicer, with lots of sunshine, and near average temperatures.
