The smoke sticks around... But the hot temperatures not so much!

Smokey skies remain the major talking point as kids head back to school today.

An Air Quality Warning remains in effect through this afternoon for a good portion of the state due to the smokey skies.

The air is unhealthy for sensitive groups and could continue to deteriorate.

Highs will trend a bit cooler today as yet another cold front drops into the state.

Most areas will experience high temperatures below 90 this afternoon.

Another round of spotty storms is likely this afternoon as this cold front moves in.

Most of these storms are expected to track through Helena and then remain south of Lewistown, primarily impacting South Central Montana.

Temperatures will remain still cooler on Thursday following the passage of Wednesdays cold front.

Most areas will remain in the low to mid 80s on Thursday.

We'll see a little spike in temperatures on Saturday just ahead of our next weather maker.

The wind is also expected to pick up as this system approaches.

A strong area of low pressure and associated cold front is expected to move in Saturday evening.

This weather maker will significantly cooler temperatures on Sunday and likely kick off a few showers.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s through Monday.

Tuesday is expected to offer up the mid 70s for highs.
