As we've been discussing all week, high pressure is on track to dominate our forecast over the next few days.

This pressure system will allow for extreme heat to move in on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Highs today are expected to reach the high 80s under clear skies.

Wednesday will be the hottest day this week with highs well into the 90s in North Central Montana and triple digits throughout the plains.

As temperatures continue to climb so will the fire danger in our area.

Humidity percentages are continuing to trend low and will likely fall into the teens by Wednesday afternoon.

A few very spotty thunderstorms are possible Wednesday evening which will only increase the already high fire concern.

Thursday will present a better chance for storms as South Pacific moisture is drawn into the region and a cold front passes through the state.

Some of these storms are expected to be on the strong side with large hail and damaging wind.

The passage of this system will keep temperatures a bit cooler with highs remaining in the mid 80s on Thursday.

High pressure will rebuild as we head into the weekend allowing for more hot and dry conditions.
