Friday morning forecast with Jason Laird

Temperatures will climb well above average on Friday thanks to strong winds.

The high 50s and even a few 60s are likely Friday afternoon.

On average wind gusts will trend around 30 mph for most of our area.

Stronger wind is likely along the Rocky Mountain Front and North Central Montana.

Winds will die down overnight and most of the state will stay in the high 30s and low 40s for overnight.

Saturday starts out mild before a cold front drops through the state.

This front will drop temperatures significantly and much like earlier this week it will likely produce a round of ice.

This will make for very slippery conditions especially once the snow begins to fall.

The wintry mixture will transition to snow overnight.

Snow is then expected for most of the day Sunday.

Accumulations are expected to be around 2 to 4 inches for most of Central Montana.

Warmer air returns on Tuesday of next week.
