Lingering smoke and still a bit breezy

Tuesday morning forecast with Jason Laird

and last updated

Lingering smoke is expected on Tuesday.

Less wind is on tap today, however smoke from the west coast will still be drawn into the state.

Air quality levels should begin improving this afternoon.

A cooler batch of air will continue to settle into Montana as the day plays out.

This will keep us breezy and allow for highs in the low to mid 80s this afternoon.

Wednesday is on track to be the coolest day of the week with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Temperatures will regain some strength as we round out the later half of the work week.

Friday will offer up another day in the low 80s before an area of low pressure tracks our way from the North Pacific.

This pressure system will allow for still cooler air to settle in over Montana this weekend.

A few mountain showers are possible as early as Friday evening.

The brunt of the moisture is expected to track through the state on Saturday.

A few spotty showers can't be ruled out on Sunday, however the core of this system should be out of the region.

Temperatures are trending in the low 70s early next week.
