Clouds will build on Wednesday as our next weather system begins knocking at our doorstep.
Daytime highs are expected to remain in the high 30s and low 40s.
The mountains will begin to see snow early in the day with flurries eventually making their way over the divide.
Great Falls to Lewistown will be right on the edge of the rain and snow mixture so accumulation is expected to be limited through tonight.
Helena however will have a much better chance of picking us snow accumulation this evening.
Thursday's highs are once again anticipated to climb above freezing with should limit the snow accumulation.
Thursday night into Friday will be the period of time most favorable for snow accumulation throughout Central Montana.
Most of our area is expected to pick up 1 - 3 inches through Friday.
Helena will likely see 4 - 8 inches through Friday.
Southwestern Montana will see the greatest impacts from this storm system.
The mountains in particular will likely see 12 - 32 inches in this area of the state.
This weekend is expected to remain dry but cold with highs remaining in the low 30s.
Forecast models are hinting at more snow on Monday of next week.
