The first of two cold fronts will move through the state early on Tuesday.

The passage of this front will keep the winds gusty and help to kick of some snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Western Montana and areas just east of the divide.

This Advisory is for areas primarily above 5,000 feet in elevation where four to ten inches of snow is likely.

Less than an inch of snow is expected for Central Montana with Lewistown picking up three to five inches.

As this first cold front travels through the state, still gustier wind is likely for all of Eastern Montana.

A High Wind Warning has been issued for the plains where wind gusts are expected to reach 60 mph.

Despite the wind, daytime high temperatures will remain in the high 30s for most.

Still colder air will follow the second cold front which is on track to settle in this evening.

This will allow for the overnight lows to fall to the teens for all of our area.

The colder air will be short lived as a strong high pressure system begins building on Wednesday.

Despite the wind, temperatures will remain in the low to mid 30s on Wednesday.

More wind is expected as Christmas Eve rolls around.

Gusts are anticipated to reach 30 mph both Thursday and Friday.

This wind will allow for the temperatures to climb well above average through Christmas Day.

Forecast models are suggesting that an area of low pressure will move inland on Saturday.

If this plays out as suggested another round of snow will be likely on Saturday and early Sunday.

This will also allow for cooler temperatures as we head into next week.
