Thursday morning forecast with Jason Laird

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to pass through the region on Thursday.

Earlier in the day a warm front will pass through Central Montana.

Much like Monday, this will provide the energy needed to kick off a few showers and thunderstorms before the noon hour.

Following the passage of this front, a cold front is on track to move in.

This front is expected to kick off stronger storms this afternoon.

Strong thunderstorms related wind gusts and small to moderate hail are likely with today's storm systems.

Despite the increase in storms, temperatures are still expected to reach the high 80s and low 90s today.

Much cooler air will follow this cold front and so will the wind.

Wind gusts around 30 mph are likely on Friday and will significantly increase the fire danger throughout the state.

A Fire Weather Watch is set to go into effect for a good portion of Montana on Friday in anticipation of the fire prone weather.

Temperatures will remain cool through the weekend with mostly clear skies.

Temperatures are on track to climb back above normal on Tuesday of next week.
