Weak high pressure will allow for a slight break in the rain before more widespread and heavy showers return.

Despite the somewhat clear skies on Tuesday, temperatures will remain cool, only reaching the low 60s for most.

An incoming low pressure system will ramp up the rain Tuesday afternoon.

This system is expected to pack quite a punch with precipitation estimates ranging between half an inch all the way up to two inches in Eastern Montana.

Flooding is likely with this system, primarily in the Northeastern corner of the state.

Fresh burn scars should also be monitored closely.

The National Weather Service has scheduled a flood watch for both the Milk River and Beaver Creek near Glasgow and Hinsdale.

Warmer and drier air is expected to return on Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to peak on Friday reaching the mid to high 70s.
