A little less wind... That's something to be thankful for!

Thursday morning forecast with Jason Laird

and last updated

Thanksgiving is shaping up to be fairly mild with temperatures on track with average.

The wind will remain prominent although not as gusty as Wednesday.

A few light mountain flurries are a possibility in the morning with clearing skies this afternoon.

A stronger ridge of high pressure will build as we head into the weekend.

This will allow for daytime highs to reach the upper 40s on Friday and Saturday.

As this ridge builds over the state the wind will kick up significantly.

A High Wind Watch is scheduled to go into effect Friday afternoon for the Northern portions of the Rocky Mountain Front.

A weak cold front will beat up on this ridge a bit on Saturday which will allow for slightly cooler temperatures on Sunday.

The main impact with the passage of this front will be windy conditions and possibly a few mountain flurries.

Temperatures are on track to remain just above average through Monday of next week.

Forecast models are showing a pocket of colder air moving through the state Monday night into Tuesday.

This will allow for much cooler temperatures on Tuesday with highs in the low 40s.

Some snow is possible, however; overall accumulations appear to be limited at this time.

Another strong ridge of high pressure will follow this slight cool down.

Temperatures are expected to jump well above average again on Wednesday.
