Light snow will continue to stay isolated in the southwest this morning.
Some light accumulation is possible through Helena and parts of the Rocky Mountain Front.
Wind along the Rockies picks up today, and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 8 PM tonight due to areas of light accumulation and blowing/drifting snow reducing visibility.
Today Central Montana will not get quite as warm as originally expected.
Snowpack has to be taken into account, because packed snow on the ground will reflect heat/sunlight back into the upper atmosphere without allowing heat to be absorbed.
Since heat isn’t absorbed at our surface, we can’t get into a nice warming trend.
We will be watching for significant snow melt with the next Chinook that moves in.
Right now, wind has not been down-sloping and therefore we’ve had colder wind from the north and south.
