Once upon a time, there was a man so in love with his Disney-loving girlfriend, he decided to create the most magical proposal possible. As the end of 2019 approached, filmmaker Lee Loechler set up a spectacular event that started out as a normal movie date and truly had a fairy-tale ending!

On Dec. 30, 2019, Loechler brought his lady love Sthuthi David to the theater to see her favorite movie of all time, Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty.” What our leading lady in this story didn’t know was that her prince had spent the past six months working with an illustrator to re-create the movie’s iconic scene, using that scene to set up Loechler’s big moment.

Loechler connected with Australian illustrator and character designer Kayla Coombs for this creative project. The hopeful groom-to-be asked Coombs to transform Princess Aurora into his high school sweetheart and to transform Prince Phillip into Loechler himself during the magical kiss scene. What they created together is nothing short of Disney magic.

Lucky for us, Loechler also had a camera set up to record the big moment. In the video below, you can see both the movie and the real-life couple. As the charming prince leans in to kiss his sleeping beauty, it’s clear she looks a bit different than usual. David appears totally confused by this and it only gets better when the scene cuts back to the prince, who looks a lot like Loechler…

He pulls out an engagement ring — something that definitely did not happen in the original movie — and then tosses it offscreen, where Loechler catches it and gets down on one knee.

David is stunned — not only by the proposal but also by the discovery that Loechler has packed the movie theater with all of her most beloved friends and family.

Naturally, this story had a happy ending. But, just in case, the remarkable fiancé had an alternate ending prepared, just in case, featuring seven sad dwarfs from Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

This guy thought of everything — but we’re pretty sure he knew he’d win the princess in the end!
