Montana’s biggest basketball weekend is came and went… with eight new state champions crowned on Saturday.. let’s take a look back at some of the best plays and moments from a wild weekend of tournaments..
At No. 5.. we’ll actually start on the ice.. Great Falls Americans and Helena Bighorns in the Fraser Cup playoffs.. Ty Moore the sniper.. Goes top shelf, to put the Bighorns up 2-0.. and Helena earns the two game sweep to advance..
At No. 4.. Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale in the Class C title game.. Teagan Erickson with the no look pass to Paige Wasson.. who knocks down the three… The Mavericks top Roy-Winifred 62-31 for their 54th straight win and back-to-back titles..
At No. 3.. Helena’s Sugar Sean O’Malley had no problems in his first UFC title defense.. The bantamweight champ dominated for five rounds on the way to a unanimous decision vistory over Marlon “Chito” Vera… The reigh of the Suga Show might be a long one..
At No. 2.. What a postseason run from the CMR boys.. First round against No. 1 seed Missoula Hellgate.. Jonah VanTasseell hits a three to send the game to overtime.. Then check out River Wasson throwing down the alley-oop finish.. to earn the upset win.. Rustlers playing spoiler in the AA tournament..
At No. 1.. Box Elder and Manhattan Christian in the State C final.. Tracen Jilot with a performances for the ages.. Comes up with the steal.. and then proceeds to throw it down! That was a turning point, and the Bears claim a state title.. 68-64..
