My name is Ryan Gamboa and I have been a member of the KRTV news team since June of 2022. I currently anchor the 5:30 and 10:00 p.m. broadcasts on the weekends while sharing the stories of our area the rest of the week.
KRTV and the Great Falls market is my first opportunity in the media industry. I was born and raised in Red Bluff, California - a small town nestled along the Sacramento River, two hours south of the Oregon Border. My family still resides in the small farming community. My dad David is a seventh-grade math teacher and my mom Denise works for a non-profit that raises money for the family counseling center in town. They have two English Bulldogs named Boomer and Ella, our rescue Belle was recently put down. I come from a tight knit family, having one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Shanda, who have four boys, Jakoby, Zaige, Draven, and Korvyn.
I recently graduated from Academy of Art University in 2022 with both a BA and MA in Communications and Media Technologies. I worked on various jobs/projects with KRCR News Channel 7 in Redding, CA, PAC-12 Networks, Barstool Sports, public address announcing for Saint Mary's Basketball, as well as various play-by-play broadcasting gigs.
My background is entirely in sports - playing six years of college baseball, first with, Butte College, home of the great Aaron Rodgers. Then, transferring to the NCAA Division II level at Academy of Art University in the PacWest Conference. The lessons learned on the diamond have transformed me into who I am today. And 20 years of playing sports, it was time for a change.
The Great Falls community called - the transition to news has been seamless for me. My passion for news started long before I even knew it. My parents always had some sort of news on, whether it was the local station in town, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News, or 60 Minutes. I can remember in high school sitting by myself to watch Brian Williams, Lester Holt, David Muir, and my favorite - Scott Pelley. I always knew I could do it.
Now, I am living my dream. It's and honor and a privilege to provide quality news to Montana viewers who are proud of their way of life. It's important as journalists to share what makes the Treasure State... Home.
Montana has welcomed me with open arms, I owe the community a whole lot more because of that.
Don't be afraid to reach out to me... For those that know me, I'm a talker and would love to hear from you.
