Speech Therapy Solutions Montana in Helena has turned to video conferencing for their Parkinson’s therapy classes.

The “Speak Out and Loud Crowd” is a therapy program aimed at helping Parkinson’s patients with their speech and voice.

Speech Therapy Solutions Montana has been hosting this grant based program for two years.

And due to COVID-19, they’ve had to move their classes online.

Language Speech Pathologist, and owner of Speech Therapy Solutions Montana, Daylinda Radley says, this free event is a great way for Parkinson’s patients across the state to stay connected during the pandemic.

Radley added, “In the absence of regular exercise, therapeutic services, they're also more at risk of decline a lot of maintenance and support is definitely needed to keep up good speaking skills, swallowing skills, and voice skills.“

These free online classes are held every last Thursday of the month, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Each class has a different topic, this month’s focus is on medication, and the do’s and don’ts of medicating for Parkinson’s disease.

Daylinda says her current focus is on expanding the classes to include panel discussions with health professionals from all over the community. She says, next month’s focus will be on physical therapy and recovery, and later on down the road they will be inviting nutritionist to speak about the importance of nutrition for our bodies related to diseases.
