CHOTEAU — Mae is a 4-year-old Labrador/Border Collie mix who currently lives at Bright Eyes Care & Rehabilitation Center in Choteau and is looking for a new home.
Mae is well-trained with verbal commands. Bright Eyes believes Mae is the perfect dog for the elderly or anyone with kids: “She just likes to follow you around. She likes to go for walks, ride in vehicles, she basically just wants to be right next to you all the time seeing what’ going on. She’s just a great companion,” said Bright Eyes volunteer Kelly Richter.
Mae was very welcoming when I visited her home at the shelter, even kind enough to give me a tour.
Mae instantly takes a liking to humans: “Mae is one fantastic girl. As you can see, once she’s bonded to you she will stay like that. She will be like that forever,” said Richter
Though Mae is welcoming to humans, cats are not company she likes to keep. In the past Mae has done well with male dogs but the staff at Bright Eyes believe she would do best in a one-pet household.
Mae’s Autobiography
“I was in a home for several years until I came up with the brilliant idea to catch and kill chickens. Then, oh my goodness, there were fun deer to chase. I had a grand time and wasn’t about to give up either sport; so here I am at Bright Eyes. I am kind, patient, and NOT good with other pooches but I totally adore people. I know basic manners and am good on a leash. I love my walks up the hill. I do need to learn how to play. These goofy people keep squeaking things at me and throwing a round thing across the big yard. I just have to shake my head at their type of entertainment. I eat one and a half cups of adult food twice daily.”
Bright Eyes is a non-profit organization; they say finding loving homes for their animals is their main goal so adoption fees are any amount you are willing to donate. Click here to visit the Bright Eyes website.
