MISSOULA — Missoula's ownRoxy Theater is expanding.
After decades of success, the theater is outgrowing its current space.
This summer, employees noticed the lot next door was suddenly empty.
Now its renovating and constructing a fourth screening room.
The room will hold about 30 seats, a screen, concession stand, and a box office.
Executive Director Mike Steinberg says people are drawn to the theater because it offers something unique.
"We have a lot of collaborations with local organizations and businesses to present films that, again, would otherwise not play in Missoula. I don't know, I think there's this misnomer in the world that people don't go to the movies anymore, and it's certainly not true of the Roxy. They're there every day, and every night," said Steinberg.
Steinberg hopes the expansion will give more space for event hosting, comedy shows, and film festivals.
Construction should be done around March.
