On Friday, November 13, 2020, Michael Shane “Mike” O’Neill, 66, of Black Eagle, Montana, passed away due to complications of Covid-19 infection, and a long journey with Parkinson’s Disease. Mike was a resident at Benefis Eastview Skilled Nursing Facility at the time of his death.
Mike was born in Lewistown, Montana to Patricia (Scally) and Wallace O’Neill. He graduated from C.M. Russell High School in 1972, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track as a true “Rustler.” He attended the College of Great Falls upon graduation. He married Laura Tramelli in 1974, and they had two children, Tiffany and Casey. Mike and Laura just celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary on November 9th of this year.
Mike began his long-time sales career here in Great Falls and became a proud business owner of O’Neill Contract Furnishings, travelling throughout the states of Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas, and Idaho. There wasn’t a road, highway, or interstate in Montana that he hadn’t travelled.
He was an avid reader and war history buff, watching any movie about wars, westerns, or sci-fi. Mike also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to any genre of music, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends, laughing and telling stories. He was always up for a chat over a pint of Guinness and good meal.
