Obituary: Frances Rosemary Royt

Frances Rosemary Royt, 96, of Great Falls, passed away on May 13, 2019.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at Highwoods Community Center (4111 Highwood Drive in Great Falls).

Frances was born to Charles and Mary Matthews in London, England on April 14, 1923. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Chile and she was raised there until she married Frederick L. Royt in 1943.

Frances traveled with her husband in his Foreign Service State Department career until his retirement after 32 years. His career took them to El Salvador, Jamaica, Brazil, Peru, Washington D.C. and Uruguay. Frances worked for the National Institutes of Health in Washington D.C., and in 1980 Frances and her husband moved to San Diego, California, she lost her husband in 1994.

In 2003, Frances moved to Sun City, Georgetown, Texas to be near her daughter and grandson and then in 2012 she moved to Great Falls, to be near her son and his family.

Frances was a devoted member of the Flower Guild at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Poway, CA and a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.

She volunteered at various groups that administered to those in need. She was bilingual and enjoyed participating in her Spanish group in San Diego as well as being an avid bridge player.
