Maida Colleen (Briere) Sorkness, 68, passed away on January 7, 2019, after a difficult battle with stomach cancer.
Maida was born on February 3, 1950 to Joseph Gregory Briere and Mary “Louise” Briere (Joseph and Mary). She attended Chinook High School and graduated in 1968.
On February 1, 1972, she married her best friend, Vance Keith Sorkness (VK) and they had three daughters. Maida enjoyed doing many things.
She loved to attend her children’s athletic activities, sewing, baking, cooking, singing in the choir, selling Avon, being social with everyone she encountered, and always the first to volunteer to help someone.
Dad and her also spent many years at Holter Lake and will remember all the great memories from that place.
Maida will be greatly missed by her family, the community members of Belt, and all those that were fortunate enough to have her fry bread!
She will be remembered for the love she had for her husband, daughters, and anyone she became close to, and the time she spent socializing at the Moon Saloon (aka Georgia’s).
Maida would like her memory to be carried on by making sure to live life to the fullest, love your family as much as you can and making a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society. She participated in the Relay for Life for the past 3 years and has hope for those cancer sufferers and survivors.
