Glen Caniparoli, 68, of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2018.

The funeral liturgy will be Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. His ashes will be buried with his wife during a private family service in Resurrection Cemetery in Helena at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Glen Caniparoli was born in Portland, Oregon in 1950, the oldest child of George and Flora Caniparoli. He grew up in Portland where he attended Franklin High School. He attended the University of Portland where he earned his BA in English and met his future wife Cathy Daly.

They were married in 1972 and moved to Montana in 1975. Glen eventually earned his MS in education at Montana State University from long distance work and summer school. He worked in education throughout his life, first in Portland, then in Helena and Livingston, where he was a teacher and principal.

The family moved to Great Falls in 1989 where he was an administrator at Vaughn Elementary. In 1993, he then went to work with the Montana Juvenile Corrections Department until his retirement in 2014, combining his love for teaching with a passion to work with young people.

He was an avid reader and he loved history, whether it was the history of Portland, Montana, or anywhere in the world that he was interested in. He loved to fish and to tell stories about the things he had learned and could tell these stories with great insight.

As such, he was the family historian, remembering everything he had ever experienced or heard about. He was loyal to family and friends and could always be counted on for unbending support.
