Gertrude “Gert” Lorang, 100 years young, of Great Falls passed away on January 2, 2019 at Park Place Nursing Home.

Gert was born on July 15, 1918 in a log cabin, on her father’s land near Comanche, Montana. She was the third of thirteen children born to Louise and George Carney.

Gertrude married Joe Lorang on June 29, 1940 and soon was working with her husband on the ranch near Eden, Montana. Some of Gert’s hobbies were crocheting, raising chickens, gardening (flowers and vegetables) and feeding and raising cattle with her husband.

She was the McCumber School Clerk for 14 years and a member of the Eden Altar Society until the building was sold, and since 1950 had been a member of the Eden Homemakers.

Some of her amazing accomplishments were going from very little money, no electricity, or running water to having all of it.

For 12 wonderful years she resided at the Lodge before going into Park Place Nursing Home where she lived for the past three years. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Place for the outstanding care they gave Gert.
