Valdamar Eluid Valdez, born September 25, 1929 in Las Mesitas, CO, passed from this life on December 3, 2018 at his home in Fairfield, Montana. He was 89 years young.

Valdamar took great pride in serving his country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War with his brother, Solomon. He served in the 11th MASH unit. Solomon was killed in that war and his loss forever weighed heavily on Valdamar’s heart.

Valdamar returned home with his brother’s remains and proceeded to attend York College in York, NE where he met Eva Marie Jones and fell forever in love with “that beautiful girl with the voice of an angel”.

Valdamar and Eva married in 1955 and started their family. Valdamar eventually transitioned his education to The University of Nebraska where he ultimately graduated with his Master’s Degree.

He had a successful career teaching Civil Engineering, Computer Aided Drafting, Surveying and Engineering Graphics at Northern Montana College in Havre, MT and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD.

He was passionate about helping his students learn and thought of many of his students as family.

Valdamar enjoyed any activities that allowed him to spend time with his family including hunting and fishing.

He was an active member in his local church and volunteered much of his time, after retirement, to family and friends in need of drafting projects.
