Obituary: James Frye

James Ross Frye, 76, of Great Falls, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.  A Memorial Service will be held this Tuesday, November 13th at 11:00 AM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home.  A Potluck Reception will follow the Service.

Jim was born January 23, 1942 in Watseka, IL to Lester and Leona Frye.

Jim’s graduation from Cissna Park High School was just the beginning of his education leading him to attend classes at Eastern Illinois University, Louis College (Chicago), Northrop Institute of Technology (Los Angeles) and many, many more.

Jim was married to Mary Everson in Las Vegas in 1972 and after 51 loving years together Mary passed away. Jim’s 37 plus years in aviation had him working for airlines like Delta and Western Airlines. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

For the last ten plus years, Jim started his day drinking coffee and swapping stories with his “coffee family” at McDonalds.

Also known as NW7O, Jim spent a large portion of his life on the radio waves. Spending hours making contacts in Morse Code and Phone all over the world. Engaging in conversation with dots and dashes.

Jim loved time spent with his dogs, his kids, grand kids, and Americans Hockey. Jim’s first love was nature, but he was proudest to be an American, supporting the US military.
