NEOSHO, Mo. – Authorities are seeking information regarding a beagle that was skinned alive in Missouri.
The City of Neosho says about 75% of the dog’s skin had been removed when it was found alive at around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. Police caught the pup after consulting with veterinary staff, but she sadly had to be euthanized to end her suffering.
The city says the dog had come from the area of Hilldale Drive when local residents contacted authorities. Officials believe she either escaped from the assault or was set free after being skinned.
An investigation revealed the dog’s owner lived at a home in the 1300 block of Lou Ida Drive, where the city says the animal escaped while the owners were away. The dog was not in its mutilated state when the owners left town, according to the city.
The city provided a photo of the beagle in hopes someone witnessed the dog leaving the suspect location or heard the assault take place. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved in the incident.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Neosho Police Department at 417-451-8012 or the Newtown County Sheriff’s Office at 417-451-8300.
