Republican Congressman Greg Gianforte is seriously considering a run for governor in 2020.

He joined MTN News in Missoula Tuesday and gave his first public indication that he may run.

“It’s a great honor to serve Montana. We love this state, we raised our family here. On that particular question, I have been talking to people across the state, I have been getting a lot of encouragement to run for governor. I have not made a final decision, but I’m seriously considering it,” he said.

Many within the political circle have speculated that Gianforte would run for governor.

Meanwhile, several democrats have put their name in the running for Montana’s lone House seat, which Gianforte occupies.

No Republicans have announced House runs yet.

Gianforte lost the 2016 gubernatorial race to Democratic Governor Steve Bullock.
