After three decades, Montana officially has a new Clerk of the Montana Supreme Court.
Republican Bowen Greenwood was sworn into office at 10:30 a.m. on January 7 by State Attorney General Tim Fox in the Chambers of the Montana Supreme Court.
“It’s a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to serve the people of Montana and I ran for this job because it really is a public service position,” said Greenwood. “There’s not a lot of grandstanding or glory that goes with it. Just a chance to do some work for the people.”
Greenwood previously worked as the Public Service Commission’s communication director and is a former executive director of the state Republican Party.
In November, Greenwood won the election against Democrat Rex Renk by eight points.
Greenwood said he hopes he can use his new position to better inform the public on the activities of the court.
“I really want to take an active role in helping Montanans understand what’s going on in their supreme court,” said Greenwood. “Helping Montanans get the best look they possibly can at how business is done here.”
Greenwood added he’s blessed to have such great employees already in place in the clerk’s office and everyone has been great on working through the transition.
Greenwood’s mother passed away during the campaign and to honor her he used her personal bible during the swearing-in ceremony.
