BOZEMAN — Volunteers at the Montana Raptor Conservation Center (MRCC) in Bozeman say a young bald eagle is recovering after some people passing by found him lying face down in the snow.

According to a post on the MRCC Facebook page, the eagle was found near Shepherd, unable to stand or hold his head up and was unresponsive.

Blood tests found high levels of lead in his system.

MRCC took the eagle to All West Vet for emergency treatment. He was hydrated and left overnight, not expected to survive.

Then the next morning, according to MRCC, he was found standing up.

The non-profit group says the eagle still has a long way to go but they’re happy with his progress so far.
