Train derails near Conrad, sparks fire
Conrad Fire Chief Kevin Mortiz said the derailment of a BNSF train happened at around 4 p.m. on Monday.

He says approximately 10 cars derailed, and the incident sparked a wildfire in a nearby hay field. No injuries or major damage to the rail cars was reported. The fire was contained to the one hay field, and several hay bales burned.

Jamie Mullins shared video of the incident with KRTV, and said that it happened near United Grain just south of Conrad.

Mullins said: "Thankfully some cowboys with a water truck came and got it pretty under control and then the fire trucks came and got the rest. It was wild."

There were no reports of injuries; the cause of the derailment is being investigated.
