As tax season approaches, many individuals and families are busy gathering paperwork and sifting through last year’s tax returns. Fortunately, Tax Help Montana is stepping in to alleviate some of that stress by providing free tax preparation and filing services for qualifying residents.

The program, which operates through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) initiatives, receives annual grants from the IRS.

Adair Peach, a representative from Tax Help Montana, emphasized the organization’s mission: “We serve the whole state and provide the free tax prep because we don’t think anyone should have to pay for tax preparation to get their money back.”

Tax Help Montana's services are specifically designed for seniors and low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

All tax preparers at Tax Help Montana are trained and IRS-certified, ensuring that clients receive reliable assistance.

Volunteer Olivia Albee shared her experience, stating, “Being able to physically be there and help… It’s nice to be able to pass on that information to help make it less scary and more easy. We’re here to help.”
