Starting at Lolo Pass and passing through cities all around the Treasure State, a few brave souls are traversing the mountains and plains of Montana in a stagecoach.
The group started on June 7 and made their way to East Helena on June 10, and stopped at Kleffner Ranch off of Highway 12 to let their horses rest after four days of travel. They expect the rest of the trip to take them a little under two weeks to complete from start to finish.
Ephraim Strain, one of the riders, told MTN News that up to this point the hardest part of the journey has been staying dry. As they get ready to embark on another leg of their journey, Strain said though the terrain might be easier, the warmer weather will certainly play a factor in how long it takes them to complete the trip.
"Well, I’d imagine we’ll get into some hot weather. Harder on the horses as far as, going as far. I think we got most of the steep stuff out of the way, so it should go a little smoother," said Strain. "We're on schedule so far if we can keep the horses sound."
