Sheriff's deputy escapes injury after his patrol car was hit

MISSOULA — A Granite County Sheriff's deputy escaped injury after his patrol vehicle was hit from behind while he was at a crash scene on Interstate 90 near Bearmouth.

Granite County Sheriff Scott Dunkerson says that shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Friday, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving several vehicles on I-90 at mile marker 145.



The patrol vehicle was hit from behind after responding to the scene, according to Sheriff Dunkerson.

The deputy was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash and was not hurt.

One person from the original accident was taken to a Missoula-area hospital for treatment his injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Sheriff Dunkerson says that speed and icy road conditions were contributing factors in the crash.

The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
