MISSOULA — An investigation continues in Missoula after a collision involving a vehicle and bicycle last week.

Sgt. Travis Welsh, Missoula Police Department Public Information Officer, tells MTN News that officers responded to the incident just after 10 p.m. last Friday.

Officers responded to the report of an injury crash involving a vehicle and a man on a bicycle at the intersection of Stephens Avenue and East Bickford.

When the officers arrived, they found a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street and a man, who was unconscious, lying in the road.

A damaged bicycle was on the side of the street.

Investigation continues into fatal collision

EMS rendered first aid to the man, who was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries. He later died. The name of the person has not yet been released.

The police department is still investigating the incident and has not yet released a cause for the crash.

“At some point in the future, investigation will be completed and it will be referred to the Missoula County Attorney’s office for review. There may or may not be a recommendation of potential charges,” Welsh said.

Welsh tells MTN News the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.
