BILLINGS — A 44-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in Cody, Wyoming, after a gunshot wound to the head Monday afternoon, and the man that she said shot her then killed himself inside a camper at an RV park after he saw police.

Cody police said officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to the Rodeo West Gas Station at 130 Yellowstone Avenue for a report of a woman with a gunshot wound.

She told police that her 76-year-old boyfriend has shot her after an argument in their camper at the nearby RV park.

The woman was able to leave the camper to call for help at the gas station, and her boyfriend followed, according to police. He returned to the camper when he saw police.

When officers approached the camper, they heard a gunshot from inside. Cody police and Park County Sheriff's deputies secured the area, while the Cody Police Tactical Response Team was called.

After trying to make contact with the man, police deployed a robot into the camper and found the man dead. Police said they believe he shot himself.

The woman's injuries are not life-threatening, according to police.

Neither individual was identified Monday, and the investigation continues; we will update you if we get more information.
