BIGFORK — We are learning more about a weekend fire that destroyed a building in Bigfork.
Bigfork Fire Chief Mark Thiry says crews responded to a call from Flathead County dispatch at around 2 a.m. on Sunday to the Eagle Bend Golf Club.
Bigfork units responded to the scene and didn’t see any indication of a fire outside, but when the caretaker of the building opened the front door, he saw the building was full of smoke.
The on-scene officer called for additional backup and five more fire department units responded.
Thiry says the entire inside of the building was quickly in flames and that the fire took around four hours to extinguish.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated with the assistance of the state fire marshal's office.
There were no injuries; the dollar amount of damage has not yet been determined.
