Two businesses in Columbia Falls are working host a fundraiser for the family of a young girl who was hit by a vehicle after she got off a school bus several weeks ago.
Six-year old Jordana Hubble was hit by a vehicle after a driver failed to yield to a stop sign on a school bus. The Hubble family says Jordana remains in critical condition with widespread brain damage.
MHP Trooper Raymond told MTN News that it appears the driver was going around 40 miles per hour when Jordana was hit by the vehicle.
Bubba D’s Catering and North Valley Eagles will host the Hubble Family Fundraiser on December 14th.
The event will feature food from Bubba D’s, raffles, and a silent auction with all proceeds going to the Hubble family.
North Valley Eagles Assistant Manager Jennifer Pool says the fundraiser will help bring additional awareness of the importance of safety when school buses are present: “We do need to raise a lot of awareness for people to pay attention to what they’re doing and the laws of the road, and just pay attention to the kids that are running around out there,” said Pool.
On November 20th, Olney Fire & Ambulance provided this update on Jordana's condition:
- Jordana Hubble remains in critical condition and her brain damage is widespread. Her neurologist described it as extreme Shaken Baby Syndrome. It’s technical name is Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI). It is on the severe end of the spectrum. If Jordana wakes up, she will need long term care. We have set up an account at Whitefish Credit Union in her name for this purpose.
The Whitefish Fire Department and Olney Fire and Ambulance both have fill the boot fundraisers at their locations to help Jordana and her family. Donations can also be dropped off anytime at 275 Flathead Avenue in Whitefish. A meal train and online fundraiser has also been created for the family; click here if you would to donate or help . You can also send a gift card or check to Olney Fire Department, P.O. Box 7, Olney, Montana, 59927. Make checks payable to Veronica Hubble.
Charges are still pending against the driver of the car as authorities wait for toxicology results and continue investigating; the driver's name has not yet been released.
