The West Yellowstone Police Department released the information on social media, saying the department and town mourn the loss of Officer Ashlee Stoneburner.
The agency is staffed by 13 people: the Chief of Police, five uniformed police officers, and seven 911 telecommunicators.
The circumstances surrounding Officer Stoneburner’s death are being investigated by the Madison County Sheriff/Coroner's Office.
