Body of third victim of Idaho avalanche has been found

Search and rescue crews on Wednesday located the body of a person still buried under an avalanche on Silver Mountain near Kellogg, Idaho, bringing the death toll to three people.



KREM TV reports that Two Bear Air helicopter of Whitefish confirmed that a body was found buried under the snow.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office said Carl William Dick Humphreys, 58 years old, and Scott Michael Parsons, 46, were killed in Tuesday's avalanche on Wardner Peak. Both were Washington residents.

Four other people were injured in the avalanche.



The resort received information at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday that another skier was unaccounted for and search efforts restarted.

Last week, two snowmobilers in Montana were killed when their sleds were caught in a backcountry avalanche that was triggered while they were riding trails in the Seeley-Swan area. The two young men were from Anaconda. A third rider managed to escape.
