BIGFORK — The Bigfork School District canceled all classes on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, due to a bomb threat made from an out-of-county phone call.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) received a report at about 6:30 a.m. from a crisis line stating that an individual had shot someone, planted bombs at Bigfork Schools, and intended to commit further violence.
Deputies immediately responded in coordination with Bigfork School personnel, implementing protocols to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community while actively investigating the threat.
Initial findings from FCSO detectives indicate that the threat originated from an out-of-state IP address, and the investigation is ongoing.
Patrol deputies, FCSO K9 teams, School Resource Officers, and Bigfork School personnel are currently following bomb threat protocols out of an abundance of caution.
Sheriff Heino said the school district shut down all school activities for the day due to an abundance of caution.
He added that law enforcement has initially cleared school buildings and explosive K’9s are checking each individual building as well.
