GREAT FALLS — Last month we introduced you to Barney, a severely underweight and neglected dog rescued by Paws Of Chinook. Now, Barney is ready for his forever home!

Barney has recovered, and ready for his forever home

Barney was neutered this week and is up to date on all of his vaccinations. The mixed breed dog weighed just 42 pounds when he was rescued in December. A veterinarian estimated he hadn’t eaten properly in months. After a lot of love and work, Barney is now up to 68 pounds. He is also off all medication.

Alissa Hewitt of Paws Of Chinook said their ideal home for Barney would include at least one other dog and owners who can take him for a walk one or two times a day so he can continue to get stronger.

“He's doing so well here, but the boy's never been on a real coach or real bed. He's never had his own anything and he needs that, he deserves that. It's going to be really hard to see him go, but we can't wait for him to find his family,” explained Hewitt.

Barney made a friend in the shelter who helped in his recovery, Fancy. Fancy was recently adopted and Hewitt reports she is doing great in her new home.

If you're interested in adopting Barney, contact Paws Of Chinook on their Facebook page, or their website. The adoption fee is $100.
