GREAT FALLS — The Augusta American Legion PRCA Rodeo has been canceled for the first time in its history, due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns.
The Augusta Montana Aarea Chamber of Commerce made the announcement in a Facebook post on Thursday evening.
The rodeo was scheduled to be held June 26-28, but "due to circumstances beyond the legion’s control, this year’s rodeo is OFFICIALLY CANCELLED."
The post said: "It would have been the 84th year that the rodeo has been held in our wild and beautiful little town of Augusta. While the show has gone on for 83 years—including two floods, epic weather conditions and more—this is the first year in its history that the rodeo will not take place."
They noted that the decision was not an easy one for the Augusta American Legion to make.
They concluded by encouraging people to make plans for next year's rodeo, which is scheduled for June 25-27, 2021.
