YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — A 4-acre fire was quickly contained Friday evening in Yellowstone National Park and appears to be human caused, according to a YNP press release.
The release said that around 6 p.m. Friday a fire began spreading through the North Entrance Station and the Gardner River.
The North Entrance Road was closed for approximately 90 minutes until personnel from Yellowstone, the town of Gardiner, and Paradise Valley contained the fire that was burning through grass and sage.
The fire is under investigation, according to the press release, and anyone who has information about people using the picnic area near the entrance station is encouraged to call the park’s 24-hour Tip Line at 307-344-2132. Callers can remain anonymous.
National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service crews will be in the field Saturday to finish up working the fire.
